Opening Reception: 30 April 2025

333Gallery is proud to present Echoes from the Land of Smiles, a group exhibition showcasing the works of fifteen contemporary Thai artists whose practices span a range of media, perspectives, and personal histories. The exhibition offers Seoul audiences a rare opportunity to explore the rich emotional and cultural dimensions of Thai contemporary art.
Thailand, affectionately known as the “Land of Smiles,” is a country defined by contrast, where ancient beliefs live alongside bold experimentation, and tradition merges with transformation. Echoes from the Land of Smiles captures this unique duality through a selection of artworks that reflect on identity, memory, and modernity.
Curated to highlight the remarkable diversity of Thailand’s art scene, the exhibition features vibrant figurative paintings, intricate sculptures, experimental mixed media, and conceptual installations. Each piece stands as an individual narrative, some rooted in folklore or family history, others confronting the complexities of contemporary Thai society.
Participating artists include:
Aphisit Sidsunthia
BGC Glass Studio
Donruedi Bunkaeo
Kanokwan Sutthang
Marisa Srijunplaeng
Phatcharaphan Raiva
Praiva Raiva
Thanistha Nunthapojn
William Barrington-Binns
Wittaya Kakham
Through these diverse voices and practices, Echoes from the Land of Smiles fosters a cross-cultural conversation between Bangkok and Seoul, the personal and the collective. The exhibition invites viewers to discover the emotional depth, narrative strength, and creative innovation that define a new generation of Thai artists, voices that resonate far beyond borders.
