2. Exhibition Details

333Gallery, a leading contemporary art gallery based in Bangkok, has opened a new space in Seoul’s Cheongdam-dong district, a cultural and artistic hub. Coinciding with its first participation in KIAF, the gallery launched its inaugural exhibition on September 5, 2024, during the Cheongdam Night event. This special exhibition brings together prominent Thai artists, including a renowned duo and the New York-based Thai street artist MUEBON, alongside seven Korean artists: Hyung Koo Kang, Jae Yong Kim, Kyoungmi Lee, Dongi Lee, Sara Lee, Eunmi Chae, and Sangsik Hong.

Titled In Synchrony (동시-성, 同時性), the exhibition begins with a collaboration between Thai artist duo Praiva Raiva and Phatcharaphan Raiva. Phatcharaphan captures the delicate vibrancy of nature through watercolor depictions of blooming flowers, while Praiva narrates life’s changing phases through vivid 3D sculptures inspired by their experience of living alone. Despite their distinct artistic journeys, they share a profound love for the vitality of nature. In this project, they explore the challenge of maintaining individual creativity while collaborating on the same theme.

Praiva’s 3D sculptures are surrealistically expressed in two-dimensional forms on paper, while Phatcharaphan’s paintings enhance and complement Praiva’s works. This collaboration embodies a familial dynamic of mutual respect and humility, showcasing how family members can learn from and creatively inspire one another. Through this collaboration, the Raiva family conveys a message of shared imagination and artistic synergy.

Beyond the duo’s collaboration, the exhibition also highlights the diverse perspectives of seven Korean contemporary artists, each presenting unique approaches and materials that reflect modern society and culture. The inclusion of MUEBON, a Thai street artist active in New York, adds further richness to the exhibition’s variety.

This exhibition is a celebration of 333Gallery’s new presence in Seoul and aims to foster artistic exchanges between Korea and Thailand, creating an opportunity to understand each other’s cultures and histories. Prasong Kochaphan, the gallery’s representative, expressed their delight in introducing Thai art and culture to Korea through this inaugural exhibition, which symbolizes the cultural bond and exchange between the two countries while reflecting their shared vision and values.

Marking its entry into Korea, the exhibition serves as an important step in promoting mutual cultural understanding and exchange between the two nations. As an artistic bridge connecting Seoul and Bangkok, 333Gallery plans to continue linking the art and cultures of Korea and Thailand through a variety of exhibitions and events in the future.

Take the Flower Seriously challenges the traditional perception of femininity and its long-standing association with flowers. Often viewed as symbols of beauty and fragility, flowers have also embodied resilience, transformation, and endurance—qualities that reflect the complexities of womanhood. This exhibition seeks to move beyond binary narratives, redefining femininity as a multifaceted, evolving force rather than a fixed societal construct.
